Debate about Sustainable Energy

On the first of March, senior members of American business magnate Donald Trump’s New York Team are expected to participate in the first public information even about the wind farm developments in Fife. Recent objections to the St Andrews University wind farm, including the opinion that it will destroy the landscape, will be addressed. Also joining the discussion is John Mayhew, the director of the Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland, former grid control engineer and When Will the Lights Go Out author Derek Birkett, as well as Scottish Member of European Parliament Struan Stevenson. The question-and-answer forum will be held at the St. Andrews Town Hall and was organized to address the growing tensions in the Fife community over the industrial wind farm. The meeting begins at 7:15 in the evening, and is open to all.
Three railway stations in Fife, however, have just successfully installed a total of 48 solar panels. Dunfermline Town, Kircaldy, and Leuchars stations are for the first time ever generating their own solar power. The £50,000 project is expecting to produce 3,300kWh of electricity to be produced each site annually, all of which will be used at the stations. The solar panels were introduced as a step in ScotRail’s effort to reduce its carbon emission.
