The company Apple has come under scrutiny after accusations of poor working conditions in its supplying factories in China.

Questions were raised after a series of serious injuries as well as a number of suicides among workers was reported. It also came to light that 137 workers in Eastern China were injured as a consequence of using the poisonous chemical ‘N-Hexane’ to clean iPhone screens.

At the request of Apple, several of its suppliers will be subject to inspections by the Fair Labour Association and overall 90% of its suppliers will be audited. Furthermore, over 50,000 people have signed a petition demanding that apple products be made “ethically”.
