St Andrews bouncing back from storm effects
Repair work has begun in St Andrews and across the rest of Scotland in the aftermath of ‘Hurricane Bawbag’ which lashed high winds across the country yesterday.
Power companies are working to restore electricity after thousands of homes were hit by an outage which has continued into today. W.H. Smiths on South Street is closed until further notice due to a power cut.
Elsewhere in St. Andrews uprooted trees have blocked pathways and the roof of hairdressers, the ‘Hair Hutt’ on Woodburn Terrace was ripped off. Council workers have been mending the destruction today, which has included the removal of debris from the Kinnesburn after it burst through flood prevention barriers yesterday.
Despite the damage, humour has been maintained, with a video of a trampoline rolling down a Fife residential street becoming a youtube hit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-vgXHulsYM
