As part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival, StAnzas will be presenting ‘New York Calling’ at the Byre Studio Theatre, linking poets Douglas Dunn in St. Andrews and Jay Parini in Manhattan in a night of transatlantic poetry reading. The poets and audiences will be linked by Skype

as the two prominent poets share their work. Douglas Dunn is best known locally for pioneering the Creative Writing programme at the University of St. Andrews, while Jay Parini is best known for his novel about Leo Tolstoy, entitled The Last Station.

This year, the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival is being funded by Celebrating Fife and the Adult Protection Committee with the theme ‘walk in my shoes.’ As such there will be a St. Andrews poetry walk before the reading, starting at 3.00pm at the Byre Theatre Garden. This event is free of charge. Tickets to the reading are 3 pounds for general admission and two pounds for students. Tickets can be bought on the night or booked in advance through the Byre Box Office (01334 475000).
